The Story

A Story Untold

Tripolitania, 1940s. Neta is a young dancer living in a Jewish community that has called North Africa home for centuries. When Italian-aided persecution reaches Libya, her world begins to collapse. Tears of Libya follows her journey through forced labor, oppression, and the eventual expulsion of Jews from Libya, shedding light on a chapter of the Holocaust that most people have never heard.

Why This Story Matters

History Beyond Europe

The Holocaust's reach extended far beyond Europe, but the persecution of Jewish communities across North Africa remains largely absent from mainstream awareness. For centuries, Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews built vibrant communities in Libya and across the region. Their resilience, culture, and suffering during World War II have been overlooked by misinformation and historical erasure. Tears of Libya presents an accurate, nuanced account of what happened, ensuring these stories reach a new generation before they are lost entirely.
